Crock Pot Beef Stroganoff

One of the worlds greatest wonders….the crock pot! Seriously though, how nice is it to just toss a few things in the crock in the morning, leave, come back, and your house smells simply marvelous. Better yet, dinner is served. I use steaks that have been grilled to medium rare the night before, and popped in the fridge with there juices for the night. If you don’t have time to grill the steak prior it’s no big deal you can throw it in the crock raw. It just has more flavor grilled so try not to skip it. We serve this over whole wheat egg noodles, or garlic mashed potatoes.

Serves 4-6

1 lb beef steaks
1 large sweet onion: chopped
2 (10 3/4 ounce) cans cream of mushroom soup
1 (4 ounce) can sliced mushrooms, drained
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup sour cream
1 tablespoon kitchen bouquet (browning and seasoning sauce)

In slow cooker, place the chilled steaks in the cold crock pot
Season with salt, pepper, add onions and mushrooms
Cover and cook on low heat setting 6 to 8 hours or until beef is very tender
Add soup, and heat through till hot
Stir sour cream into beef mixture; warm through, and add in kitchen bouquet
Salt and pepper as needed
Serve over noodles.
